Item: 151  Description: Go-With: Mountain State Telephone & Telegraph Ruler. Not just any type of ruler, but a four-sided, 13-inch-long, ruler. Apparently an advertising promotion, the ruler is marked differently on each side. See all four views. The ruler is too long for the scanner on my computer, so the ends appear cut-off, but they are not. The ruler shows an 800-number, which didn’t come into use until 1967. Mountain States became Mountain Bell in 1969, so we presume the ruler dates from that two-year period. The ruler is about one-and-an-eighth inches square. But why 13 inches long? The internet suggests that was a useful size for measuring and working with documents before computers and electronic tools came along.
