CD 202 “K” Transposition in Aqua

Item: 40  Description: CD 202 K (010) Aqua. The embossed “K” on this piece is believed to refer to the Knowles insulator company. Here’s the understatement of the day: “Transpositions are prone to damage.” That’s because they were designed to have two wires tied to them instead of one. Parallel wires would each attach to their side of the insulator, and then cross over (change sides) when tied into an insulator on the next pole. This simple procedure prevented “cross talk”, resulting in clearer audio. There are still open wire leads in rural Oregon where this technique remains in service. This insulator is in nice condition no major issues. There are several tiny flakes and nicks on the wire ridges and umbrella. Also there are some light annealing lines in the skirt; and a couple heavier ones on the inner skirt… all naturally formed.  Grade B-Plus . Oh, note the faint amber areas in the glass.
