Item: 337 Description: CD 162 California (010) “Super Domer” in Smoky Purple. This is a heavy, thick, chunk of insulator with nearly one-and-a-half inches of solid dome glass. Additionally, as View 3 shows, the space between the skirts almost filled up with glass. View 2 shows an incomplete pour on the reverse skirt. The roughness at the start of threads is from the time of production, as if the glass was allowed to cool too much before the mandrel was removed. The insulator weighs 24 ounces, about three ounces more than normal for these. Great character piece for your California collection. Grade B-Plus: Couple small, thin, and very minor upper wire ridge nicks / flakes on reverse. They are visible to the far right in View 2. Estimate: $150 - $200 Open: $100 Closing price: $100 |
