U-1636 Peruvian Insulator from the “Highest City in the World”

Item: 332  Description: U-1636 Peru. A note written in marking pen inside the pinhole reads, “Cusco / Peru / Highest City in the World / Thanks to Anita Nelligan 1975”. See View 2. At an elevation of 11,152 feet above sea level, Cusco has a population of over a half-million people. There are several smaller towns in South America located at higher elevations. This is the very insulator pictured on the NIA’s website for this U-Style. It is also the only porcelain insulator style attributed to Peru. Small in size, it measures 1 & 7/8ths inches wide by 3 inches tall.  Grade A-Minus for some light surface wear.
