The reverse side says: TRADE / THOMAS A EDISON (SIGNATURE) / REG. U.S. MARK PAT. OFF. This is a machine made bottle most likely dating from the 1920's & 1930's. Battery Oil was added to batteries to prevent evaporation of the battery acid. These bottles were found along railroad grades where batteries were used to operate signals.
