Item: 163  Description: CD 145 Brookfield (230 - Variant) Light Aqua with Amber Stringers That Seem to Be Celebrating Their Existence as they Dance Through the Insulator. Toss in two bubbles, and the very light color, and this is a really nice insulator. Now about the variant. The "45 CLIFF" address ends in "ST". The "T" is not underlined but is full sized, like in the (216) and (217) EINs. See the close-ups in View 3 and View 4. However, this insulator does NOT have the patent dates on the reverse and thus it most closely resembles the (230) EIN. The Shop number on the dome is a Backwards 9 (top of View 1). Lee Brewer looked at the pictures and sent me his thoughts: "You mention the normal sized T in the ST instead of it being small and underlined. That is not unique to this specific mold (mold 9b.1 in my book) but the thing I find interesting is that “45” and "CLIFF” are spaced as if one term. Documentation shows Brookfield had apprentices being trained at certain times, This mold may reflect a novice. More to that theory is noting all letters made with straight lines are same size in that line, but the C is smaller and the S is larger. Curves are more difficult to judge/size when engraving. The SN9b.1 is found with one OR both crowns embossed. The reason the curve at the end of the backwards 9 is closed is b/c it was engraved over a normally oriented 9 (mold SN9b)."  Grade A-Minus: Some natural annealing lines and a teeny nick on the inner skirt.
