Item: 153  Description: U-935 Imperial Porcelain. This Insulator Is Also a First. According to Gish’s Collector’s Guide to Porcelain Insulators, Imperial was the first U.S. Manufacturer to make a wet process, pin-type, high-voltage insulator. Some of these U-935’s were still in service in British Columbia as late as 1988, some 90 years after being put in service. Imperial Porcelain was located in Trenton, New Jersey but found by a transplanted Canadian. Imperial stamped the date of production on some of its early insulators. This one is stamped 8-22-98.  Grade B: Shallow bruise / flake on the bottom of the outer skirt, not visible when displayed.
