Item: 149  Description: U-701 No Markings – This One Is A First! It was the first dry process porcelain insulator made for General Electric. The year was 1894, according to Gish’s Collector’s Guide for Porcelain Insulators. This example is  Grade R = Repaired. It’s an old and ugly repair as shown in View 2 and View 3. We’d recommend the buyer take it apart and reconstruct it using modern techniques. Undamaged, these are priced in the Value Guide at $250 - $300.
