Item: 128 Description: CD 145 H.G CO. (140) Light Aqua with “Drain Hole”. Great character piece. Let’s start with the embossing. Whittle marks all but obscure the H.G. name. The only letter clearly seen is the Shop Letter “L” above the name. On the View 2 side, a string of dots are the first clue that there is any embossing. Those are the very bottoms of the letters from ‘PETTICOAT”. If you turn the insulator just right you can barely make out the word. What about the “Drain Hole”? Well, the open bubble at the base in View 1 makes it appear that fizz ran out and drained there. Perhaps not liquid glass, but possibly gasses did. See the close up in View 2. Even the abundant annealing lines, particularly in the threads, add to the character of this piece. Grade B-Plus: Couple small flakes on the base. Estimate: $40 - $50 Open: $20 Closing price: $50 |
